PR1776’s Quick Response and Reasonable Pricing Helps Georgia Mentoring Partnership Meet Grant Deadline for Web Site Overhaul!
August 23rd, 2008
The Georgia Mentoring Partnership (GMP) retained PR1776 to fix their web site and complete upgrades as part of a federal government grant. The GMP originally retained a firm as part of the grant, to build a site that allowed potential mentors to identify volunteer opportunities online, and to register with the selected agency. The site was to include drop-down box functionality, and an email generation system to notify the GMP and their partners of interested volunteers. Unfortunately, the work was not completed, the site wasn’t functioning appropriately and the GMP was in jeopardy of failing to meet the grant’s prescribed completion date.
In less than two weeks, PR1776 worked with the previous vendor to secure coding, passwords and required data to finish the project. We also successfully altered the initial architecture (which required writing new code, and correcting mistakes by the previous vendor), had all functionality requirements in place and were able to effectively notify the GMP and partners of interest from potential volunteers.
When PR1776 finished the project, the site included the following new features: a content management system that allowed GMP staff to update the site on their own; user reports; and an additional back-end storage and data management system that allowed the client to track partner and volunteer information.
PR1776’s speedy turnaround and reasonable pricing structure allowed the GMP to complete several items on their web site “wish list,” including:
- The coding for development and implementation of an event/calendar page and a messaging and email system for the GMP;
- Updated and refreshed the main content on the site;
- Repaired broken database strings and completed unfinished pages and scripts.
- Created a user login and management system including sign up forms and databases for all public users and mentoring programs. These forms not only inform GMP upon volunteer registration, but also automatically send the user an informative email with dynamic information on the programs in their area based on their county of residence, which was an extremely robust application.
